• Details:  This a very old and very beautiful ironstone gravy boat, the pictures do not fully represent the beauty of this piece.  This style is also known as a Sauciere (aka Sauce Boat).  The pattern, Majestic, is very rare and considered one the two most exemplary patterns of the this firm's pottery (the other is Bombay).  It consists of rust colored roses, some green and brown leaves, plus a wonderful deep, dark blue in between.  It's all hand decorated in gold. The border is scalloped and so is the foot, both with hand applied gold accents.  There are some condition issues, please see "Condition" below.  Hand Wash is a must to prevent deterioration. These pieces are no longer used at the table, they are highly desired collectibles and proudly displayed.  Nice gift for a collector.

• Dimensions:  8.0 inches Long (from spout to handle), 4.0 inches Wide (at its widest point) and 4.25 inches Tall (handle)
• Condition:  Antique - Used.  Good Condition considering its age.  There is a fine line/ crack on the bottom but doesn't look like it goes to the other side.  Also, there has been a repair on the handle, we did not make the repair.  We've photographed everything for your review.  Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  We are happy to answer any questions and provide additional pictures.  Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and imperfections. 

 Founded in 1830 Burselm, England as Maddock & Edwards. He had four sons, when the eldest joined the company in 1855, the name changed to J. Maddock and Son. In 1870, another son joined the company, name was changed again to J. Maddock and Sons. John Maddock Jr retired from the business in the 1870s and died in 1877. In 1896 the business was incorporated and 'Ltd' was added to the name. In 1904 the company was awarded a gold metal at the St. Louis Exhibition in USA. They stayed in business for 150 years, went through two world wars, and many financial struggles, in 1981 they were purchased by Nubell Ltd, including their existing stock and rights to the Maddock and Royal Stafford name.
